Have younger children? For student aged 4.5 years old and up we offer the wonderful Yamaha Junior Music Course! This course incorporates piano and singing in an incredibly effective way for young students.
For students aged 7 to 11 we use Yamaha’s excellent Play For Keeps course. The Yamaha Play For Keeps course is for beginners and is taught using digital keyboards, which makes it far easier for parents to help supply their children with an instrument at home for practice. All of the skills learned are transferrable to piano, so started this way is very effective on your piano journey!
The course structure is designed in such a way that you’ll learn keyboard concepts from the basics to the most advanced levels, using ear-before-eye methods. This means students focus on developing a musical ear, which is a time-proven way to help young students develop into excellent musicians.
During the course students will learn a variety of classic songs over multiple genres, such as pop, rock, classical and jazz. While learning these iconic songs, students will develop their general musicianship by tackling repertoire development, aural training, technical development, sight reading and improvisation, all in a fun and engaging way!
